Hope is a two-year-old black and tan smooth female dachshund. Her irresponsible former owner routinely allowed her to run loose in the neighborhood and because of this she barely survived a horrific attack from a large dog. The owner refused to pay for treatment, so she was signed over to the veterinary office and DFW Dachshund Rescue Foundation. She required intensive care and despite her horrible injuries she was unfailingly sweet to the professionals who cared for her.

She steadily improved and in May 26, 2006 a wonderful family who could provide the safe, loving home this dog deserved, adopted her. Hope has had follow-up acupuncture care by Dr. Kate Running of Fort Worth VCA and this has improved her overall mobility far more than anyone ever expected. In her home, Hope enjoys playing and wrestling with her buddy the cat! Nothing stops this brave little dachshund and we are glad we gave her a chance at a new life.

Bartok was a 1-year-old black and tan smooth male dachshund. He was found as stray by some kind people in Mesquite. They made every effort to locate his owner, with no success. The owner had moved away and turned Bartok out on the streets.

We were glad to take this dog in, and after neutering and basic vet work, we found him a new, wonderful home in just 4 weeks. He is now known by the name "Shiner" and was adopted by a couple whose children are grown. They love his affectionate and playful nature!
Fritz is a sweet and affectionate black and tan smooth male dachshund who is 3 years old. An owner in ill health had fallen on hard times and had Fritz and seven other dachshunds in her home that had to be placed. After a concerned friend contacted us, we worked with Almost Home Dog Rescue and divided the dogs between both groups. Fritz was one of the dogs that came to us.

Fritz loved to cuddle in any available lap, and he had an endearing habit of gently leaning his face against yours. While in foster care, he gained confidence and began to realize that people are fun to be around! He had a favorite stuffed bunny rabbit toy and would bound around his foster home, carrying that toy in his mouth! After he had an extensive amount of vet work done, he was adopted on January 27, 2006 by an individual who had another dog was looking for the "just right" addition to her home. His new owner reports that Fritz is a wonderful dog and she can't imagine her life without him.
